Granular files & folder backup displays only first level (VSQ-000003)

Symptoms

When searching for a folder to backup from the Granular Files & Folders Backup dialog of VSquare Agent, you find only the first child folders below the root and no folder below.

Cause

This is a default behavior for VSquare Agent. A conservative approach avoids the scan of each and every folder on the VSquare Agent machine.

Resolution

This default behavior can be changed by updating the VSquare Agent configuration as follows:

Stop VSquare Agent service on the source machine
Open the file instancesettings.xml with a text editor
Update the MaxRecurseTreeDepth value to an higher number, for example 5
Start again the VSquare Agent service

In a few minutes, the Vsquare Agent will publish to VSquare Server his configuration and you should be able to browse the Granular Files & Folders backup dialog more deeply.
