Symptoms
A VMware ESXi backup fails with the following error:
Cause
This issue is usually related to a host disconnecting or shutting down while a backup job is running. This error may represent itself continuously in subsequent backups.
Resolution
This issue may be solved by simply manually creating a snapshot of the affected virtual machine using vSphere client. After the snapshot has been created you can immediately delete it.From that point forward backup of the affected machine backup will not display this error anymore.
