Go Back Configuring Virtual Disks Indexing

After each backup, VSquare will automatically index all of your virtual disks contents. This is done to both ensure that the backup data is perfectly readable and to create a searchable database of all your backup files.

After the initial configuration of VSquare, you can later change indexing behaviour by going to the Schedule section of the Anywhere Administration Console, and clicking on the Settings button.

On the settings dialog that will appear, select the indexing tab. Here you will be able to change :

  • Index Path
This is where VSquare will store all the indexes. All machine data is splitted in subfolders that can be easily identified. VSquare does not keep track of these folders but when a search is required: you can freely delete older and not needed contents without restarting the service.
When you change the index path, VSquare will automatically schedule an index migration task. Depending on your total index size it may take a while to migrate all the contents.

  • Disk Free Space
Use this slider to choose the minimum free space percentage that VSquare should respect when indexing. If the index path disk goes below the specified percentage indexing will automatically be skipped.
