Merge Backup

The VSquare Merge Backup function allows you to add a VSquare backup to the list of backups of a virtual machine. This is particularly useful as you may have VSquare backups that you want to add back to a virtual machine history. If the source virtual machine does not exist anymore, you can still restore the VSquare backup by restoring directly from the Manage section.

To merge a backup just double click on the source virtual machine, move to the Backup & Restore tab and lick on the Merge Backup button.



Select the backup folder as requested. Please note that you should select the final backup folder, not the top level one.



If the backup data is correctly recognized and contains no missing files, VSquare will display the merged backup in the virtual machine backup history. Once in the list, the backup can be selected for full or filesystem restore.



If the source backupset does not exist, VSquare will still merge the backup but specify * Unknown * as backupset name. The backupset will still be available for restore.
