Backup Modes
VSquare currently supports the following backup modes:
Full
This is the default backup mode. A full backup is created with all the virtual disks and all the virtual machine configuration files.
SmartCopy
The SmartCopy backup will use a disk difference technology to create a full backup by only applying the differences between the current virtual disks and the previous backup disks. Depending on the backup source technology, VSquare will use a different approach depending on the backup source technology:
Full

- VMware ESXi
VSquare will use VMware CBT (Change Block Tracking) feature to query the current virtual disks changes and apply them to the local backup - VMware ESXi (Free)
The free VMware license does not have the necessary API to enable disk difference detection. Backups of ESXi Free virtual machines will always be full. - Hyper-V
VSquare will emulate CBT detection during backup and automatically apply only detected disk changes. - VSquare Desktop Agent
VSquare will emulate CBT detection during backup and automatically apply only detected disk changes.
